The Coalition of Imo State Young Leaders on Sunday said there must be a set of credentials that must be possessed by anyone who must govern Imo come 2023.
While vowing to set criteria for would-be Imo next governor, the group said that emergency rulers with sinister intentions" to run the state aground will not role Imo State again.
The President General of the Coalition, Mazi Franklin Ngoforo, stated this in a statement made available to DAILYPOST in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The group regretted that allowing the governorship seat of Imo state to be an all-comers affair has been most catastrophic.
The Coalition of Imo State Young Leaders further said youths in the state have been silent for too long, thereby allowing those whom he described as "emergency rulers with sinister intentions" to run the state aground.
"Nobody that loves Imo state will sit back at this critical moment and watch while our only state burns down to ashes because of bad governance.
"Today, Imo has become an object of caricature among the comity of states. And young people must lead the charge to turn around the circumstances.
"Most parts of our state have been taken over by criminal elements. Young people in Imo have zero access to employment opportunities. Even the incentives needed for their entrepreneurial abilities to flourish are lacking. Killings of genocidal proportion have become daily occurrences now in Imo. And in all these, young people are the greatest casualties.
"By uniting all the young leaders across Imo state under one umbrella, this Coalition of Young Leaders is irreversibly dedicated to ensuring that Imo never suffers poor and disastrous misrule any longer," the Coalition of Imo State Young Leaders averred .
