Nigerian Army Raids IPOB Camp in Abia State, Neutralizes Six Suspects in Fierce Battle

Igboro Forest, Abia State – The Nigerian Army's Operation UDO KA conducted a significant raid on an Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) camp in Igboro Forest, Arochukwu LGA, Abia State, on Saturday, aiming to apprehend the assailants responsible for the killing of five soldiers at Obikabia Junction in Aba last week.

According to a statement posted on social media platform X by the Nigerian Army (NA) on Sunday, the operation involved an intense battle between the troops and IPOB members, resulting in the deaths of six IPOB militants.

"In order to apprehend the perpetrators of the attack on our troops at Aba last week and to recover arms and ammunition from the Indigenous People of Biafra and its affiliate Eastern Security Network (ESN) terrorist group, troops of Operation UDO KA conducted another successful clearance/raid operation at the IPOB/ESN camp in Igboro Forest yesterday," the statement read.

During the intelligence-led operation, the troops encountered improvised explosive devices along their route. One soldier sustained a minor injury from shrapnel during the advance.

Despite this, the troops were able to subdue the militants with superior firepower.

"The terrorists’ feeble firefight was adequately subdued with superior firepower, which led to the neutralization of six members of the criminal terrorist group while others escaped into adjoining bushes with varying degrees of gunshot wounds as blood stains were seen along their escape routes," the statement continued.

The raid also led to the recovery of several weapons, including three locally fabricated rocket-propelled grenade launchers and two locally fabricated artillery guns with tripods and bombs.

Additionally, the troops recovered Dane guns, Biafran flags, and vehicles, all of which were destroyed along with the camp.

The Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA called on residents of Abia State to continue providing security forces with credible and timely information to help eliminate criminal elements from the state and the wider southeastern region.
