The General Manager, Imo Broadcasting Corporation Lady Ify Onyegbule has described the IBC Festival of 9 lessons and Carol as inspirational, a spur of the moment as well as a huge success.
Lady Onyegbule stated this on the occasion of the 2024 Imo Broadcasting Corporation FM & TV Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols held at the IBC premises along Akanchawa road, new Owerri,Imo State .
In attendance were the Deputy Governor, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, the Anglican Bishop of Egbu Diocese, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor, and other government officials.
In her welcome address, Lady Ify stated that the event was organized in the spirit of Christmas which is for all to celebrate with critical stakeholders in the state as she commended Imo people for their willingness to celebrate and collaborate, especially as it concerns common interest like Christmas and New Year festivities.
The General Manager also expressed satisfaction with the attendance, while advising the populace to keep hope alive despite the present socio - economic challenges, noting that in realties of life, no condition is permanent.
The IBC Boss further advised privileged members of society to look inwards, towards the poor with the objective of assisting them by putting fresh smiles on their faces.
In his homily, the Anglican Bishop of Egbu in Owerri North LGA, His Lordship Bishop Geoffrey Okorafor outlined the essence of Christmas which include: sharing, looking inwards, love, forgiveness, and humility while reiterating the need to give to the less privileged people in society.
Bishop Okoroafor explained that the message of Christmas is one of the most widely and charismatic celebrations in the world which has been repeatedly done over 2000 years ago, emphasizing that the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ is biblical both in the old and new testament.
He further enjoined Christians and mankind to jettison anti social vices, adding that the joy of Christmas is goodness, brotherly love, charity, philanthropy among others.
Speaking also, the Commissioner for Information, Strategy and Public Orientation, Hon Declan Emelumba lauded the staff of IBC for their doggedness and commitment in moving the station forward despite several challenges, as he urged them to have patience with the state government.
Adding his voice, the Chief Political Adviser to the Governor, Barr Enyinnaya Onuegbu equally lauded the staff and management of IBC for thinking out of the box, stressing that he is totally impressed with Senator Hope Uzodimma’s leadership for creating an enabling environment for the staff and management of IBC to live their dreams.
He reiterated that IBC remains the clearest voice, East of the Niger.
In her remarks, the Deputy Governor, Lady Ekomaru expressed gratitude to God and the IBC staff for organizing the programme.
She equally, appreciated Senator Uzodinma for his administration's commitment in the development of the state as she solicited support and prayers for the state government.
Highlight of the occasion was the rendition of melodious Christmas songs with angelic voices of St Maria Goretti parish choir, ikenegbu, Owerri.
