Jubilation in Amato Community as Eze Ogbonna Receives Staff of Office from Imo Government

Amato Autonomous Community in Alike Obowo, Imo State, erupted in celebration as HRH Eze Michael Iroanulam Ogbonna officially received his Staff of Office from the Imo State Government. The historic occasion, which took place at the State Executive Chambers in Owerri, marked the formal recognition of Eze Ogbonna as the traditional ruler of Amato, reinforcing his authority as a custodian of culture, peace, and development within the community.




Upon receiving the long-awaited news that their community had finally been granted a traditional ruler after many years without one, the residents of Amato rejoiced. Jubilant crowds took to the streets, expressing their delight over the recognition of HRH Eze Michael Iroanulam Ogbonna as their monarch. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as community leaders and residents gathered to commend the new king and Governor Hope Uzodimma for restoring traditional leadership to Amato.




Speaking at the event, Governor Uzodimma, who personally presented the Staff of Office to Eze Ogbonna, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions as a means of enhancing governance and security at the grassroots level. He emphasised the critical role of traditional rulers in fostering peace and community development, urging Eze Ogbonna to lead with fairness, wisdom, and dedication to the welfare of his people.


In his response, Eze Ogbonna expressed profound gratitude to the Imo State Government for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to uphold justice, promote unity, and work tirelessly for the progress of Amato  Autonomous Community. He also assured his people of his commitment to fostering peace, economic growth, and security within the kingdom.


Community members described the recognition as well deserved, hailing the monarch as a leader of integrity and vision. Many believe his reign will usher in transformation and prosperity for Amato and its environs.
