Mrs. Fayomi-Amos Adefoluke Olubunmi and her son, Fayomi-Amos Oluwatoniloba Gabriel, are currently on the run following threats to their lives after sharing critical information with security agencies about criminal elements operating within obada oko in abeokuta Ogun State.
According to sources close to the family, Mrs. Fayomi-Amos, a native of igbore abeokuta south local government In Ogun State was forced to flee her mother's home with her son after receiving multiple threats linked to her cooperation with law enforcement. She had reportedly provided intelligence information that led to the arrest of individuals involved in the growing wave of insecurity in the region.
It was also gathered that Her son, Oluwatoniloba Gabriel, who is living with sickle cell anemia, has been adversely affected by the situation, with the family now living in fear and struggling without adequate protection or medical support as government agencies have failed to provide security or intervene, despite the imminent danger they face.
Narrating their ordeal, a family member—speaking on condition of anonymity for security reasons—disclosed:
"We have been receiving multiple threats from these criminal elements, insisting we provide our daughter, Mrs. Fayomi-Amos Adefoluke olubunmi, who will severely face the consequences of reporting them to the authorities. Ever since, our daughter and her immediate family have been on the run for their lives. We currently don't know where they are. The family is deeply worried, especially for her son, who is living with sickle cell anemia. We honestly pray they are safe, because we have reported this matter to the police several times, but they are yet to take any action."
The family’s plight also comes against the backdrop of increasing unrest and insecurity in Ogun State, where hundreds of women staged a peaceful protest in Abeokuta on Wednesday to to demand urgent government intervention in the worsening state of insecurity, which they say is a major cause of the growing food crisis and poverty across Nigeria.
The women, led by Adeshola Kogbodoku, marched through major streets in the state capital before converging at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat, Oke Ilewo, where they voiced their grievances and called on Governor Dapo Abiodun and President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action, decrying the worsening state of security, linking it directly to the deepening food crisis and poverty.
The women, carrying placards with messages such as “Stop destroying our farms,” “Stop killing our people,” protect our lives and properties, amongst others marched through major streets before converging at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat.
The protesters called on the state Governor Dapo Abiodun and President Bola Tinubu to take decisive and immediate action to restore security and protect vulnerable citizens, including whistleblowers like Mrs. Fayomi-Amos.
