The Abia State Police Command has recorded yet another major breakthrough in its sustained fight against child trafficking, rescuing three missing children and reuniting them with their families. The development also led to the arrest and arraignment of two female suspects identified as Chinasa Ukachukwu, 30, and Adaoma Sunday, 30, for conspiracy and child trafficking.
In a statement issued on Monday, 27th October 2025, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen C. Chinaka (LLB, anipr), the police disclosed that the latest success followed the Command’s earlier press release on 10th October 2025, which announced the rescue of eight infants and ten stolen children. The follow-up investigation enabled parents from Lagos State to identify and reclaim their missing children through legitimate documentation and due verification.
According to the statement, Mr. Akinrinola Aliya Ayomide from Lagos State identified one of the rescued children as his daughter, Akinrinola Aliyat Ayomide, while Mr. Oladapo Olanipekun, also from Lagos, identified his son, Master Olanipekun Akoede Daniel. Both children have since been lawfully reunited with their families.
The Command also revealed that the case began when a widow, Mrs. Chinasa Ukachukwu, reportedly left her home with her four children on 4th October 2024, claiming she was attending a child dedication in Aba. Shockingly, she returned two days later with only one child and could not provide a satisfactory account of the whereabouts of the remaining three.
Following her arrest, the police, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended her alleged accomplice, Adaoma Sunday, and successfully rescued the three missing children. The children were found in Aba, Lagos, and Anambra States, respectively, and have since been safely reunited with their family members. The two suspects have been charged to court to face the full weight of the law.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, commended the swift action of the detectives and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting children and dismantling trafficking networks operating within and beyond the state. He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of their wards, adding that early reporting of suspicious movements could save lives.
“Anyone whose child is missing is advised to visit the Gender Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) or contact the Officer in Charge of Gender through 08033173846 for prompt assistance,” the statement advised.
CP Isa also reiterated the Command’s emergency contact numbers 08035415405, 08079210004, 08079210005, and 08079210006 encouraging residents to make use of them in emergencies or when suspicious activities are observed.
The statement concluded with the Command’s ongoing public safety message:
“See Something, Say Something. Together, let us keep Abia safe.”
