The Imo State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Aboki Danjuma, has commissioned the newly renovated Anti-Kidnapping Unit. This milestone marks a major step in the Command’s reform agenda aimed at promoting professionalism and upholding the rule of law and human rights across the State.
The facility comprises an Administrative Office, Investigation Office, Legal Office, Human Rights Desk, Intelligence, and Operational Departments. Each section is equipped with modern furniture, computers, and communication tools to enhance coordination, transparency, and service delivery.
The detention area has been completely upgraded to meet humane standards, with beds and seats ensuring the comfort and dignity of suspects. The Investigation Room now features CCTV cameras and digital systems for evidence-based investigations. The Human Rights Desk will ensure compliance with the rule of law and accountability.
Speaking during the commissioning held at the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, expressed appreciation to the Governor for his consistent support to security agencies and to the Inspector-General of Police for his reform-driven leadership. He urged officers to remain committed to combating violent crimes while upholding justice, the rule of law, and human rights.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the dignitaries in attendance, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr. Nnamdi Anyehe, who represented His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as well as representatives of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, the Council of Imo Traditional Rulers, the Nigerian Bar Association, and various community leaders. The building was subsequently commissioned.
The official commissioning of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit marked a new phase of progress and professionalism in the Imo State Police Command.
