The leadership and members of Avu Mechanic Village have sent a Save Our Soul (SOS) message to Governor Hope Uzodimma, urging him to call Prince Jeff Ukachukwu to order, pointing out that he is working so hard to impose leadership on the artisans in order to take full control of their land.
Speaking after the botched election of the association on Friday December 12, chairman of the association, Comr. Ifeanyi Ugwuegbu, in company of the Vice Chairman, Mr Nwanjoku Chinedu and the secretary, Chief Barth Ajaero, said Prince Ukachukwu has been doing everything humanly possible to impose his puppet on the association, to actualize his selfish purpose of cornering the whole of their lands to himself.
Comrade Ugwuegbu who is popularly known as Bishop went further to add that Prince Jeff Ukachukwu has made life difficult for him and his entire Excos, adding that his only sin against Prince Jeff Ukachukwu was not dancing to his tone.
He disclosed that Comrade Kyrian Nnadi, Chairman of the Nigerian Automobile Technician Association brought Prince Jeff Ukachukwu to Avu Modern Mechanic Association when was contesting for the chairman of the State NATA as an investor.
Ugwuegbu said that the self acclaimed investor turned out to become their tormentor in chief because he refused to allow him take over the lands in Avu Mechanic Village.
He said that the leadership and members of Avu Modern Mechanic Village were never against the idea of having Jeff Ukachukwu as investor but the bone of contention is that the NATA state chairman was bent on making the investment agreement secret, whereas members of the village wants to know details of the agreement, to ensure it is favourable to all parties involved.
He alleged that Prince Jeff Ukachukwu, through the state chairman has locked him and some of his executive members up at the Tiger Base unit of the Imo State Police Command for more than seven occasions.
According to the chairman, the state chairman of Nigerian Automobile Technician Association has been going against the constitution of the association, beginning from the constitution of illegal electoral committee and raising the price for forms for the election by over 1000 percent.
"For instance, the form for chairmanship position was raised from thirty thousand naira (N30,000) to three hundred thousand naira (N300,000). He said this was done to disenfranchise genuine members of the village who intend to contest the election, while the stooges sponsored by Prince Jeff Ukachukwu will be the ones who will buy the forms.
He said because of the unwillingness of the state chairman of NATA to abide by the provisions of the constitution, the election has been botched on two occasions; in 1st December where Prince Jeff Ukachukwu invaded the whole election ground with his thugs, when he noticed that his preferred candidates could not fly and 12th December 2025, despite the fact that the state chairman, with the support of Prince Jeff Ukachukwu, hired some officers of the Tiger Base and tugs to enforce the illegal election on the people.
