OKIGWE NORTH REP SEAT 2027: Okigwe Zone United Youth Movement URGES Onuimo TO ALLOW Isiala Mbano COMPLETE SECOND PHASE OF REPRESENTATION.

Leaders of the Okigwe Zone United Youth Movement have called on Onuimo Local Government to allow Isiala Mbano to complete what they describe as its second phase of representation in the Okigwe North Federal Constituency by 2031.

The group made the appeal during a peaceful protest in Owerri, where its National President, Clinton Chukwuma, said their demand is based on what he called a clarified understanding of the constituency’s long-standing zoning arrangement.

According to him, the rotation system since 1999 follows structured phases rather than a simple three-way cycle among the LGAs. He explained that the first cycle, which lasted 24 years from 1999 to 2023, allowed each council area to hold office for eight years. During that period, Okigwe and other LGAs took turns, beginning with the late Maurice Ibekwe, and ending with Isiala Mbano.

Chukwuma stated that the second 24-year cycle began in 2023 with the current representative, Princess Miriam Onuoha, occupying what they described as Isiala Mbano’s first eight-year slot, expected to run until 2031.

He added that allowing the tenure to run its full course would preserve political harmony, maintain fairness among the three LGAs, and uphold what he called a tested zoning formula that has sustained balance in the constituency.

The group insists that permitting Isiala Mbano to complete its tenure is not a denial of Onuimo’s turn but adherence to an agreed rotation schedule, which it says places Onuimo’s opportunity in 2031.
