MBAISE DECLARATION 2026: Mbaise Leaders Adopt Charter of Equity, Call for Rotation of Elective Positions

The apex political organisation of Mbaise nation has adopted the Charter of Equity as the guiding principle for the sharing of all elective political positions within the Mbaise area, declaring that justice, fairness, and inclusiveness must shape the future of political leadership in the region.

This position was reached during a strategic meeting of stakeholders of the Olu Oha Mbaise Political Assembly held at the residence of its President General, Chief Perry Oparah, where leaders and delegates from across the three Local Government Areas that make up Mbaise deliberated extensively on the political future of the area.

At the end of the meeting, the gathering issued what is now known as the Mbaise Declaration 2026, a collective resolution aimed at promoting unity, fairness, and political balance among the various communities within Mbaise.

In the declaration, the leaders unanimously adopted the Charter of Equity as the framework that should guide the distribution of all elective political positions in Mbaise. According to the assembly, the adoption of this principle will strengthen justice, encourage fairness, and promote a sense of belonging among all sections of the Mbaise nation.

The assembly further resolved that all elective political offices within Mbaise should rotate among the different zones within the electoral constituencies to ensure balanced representation and to prevent political marginalisation of any area.

Part of the declaration specifically addressed the House of Representatives seat involving Ngor Okpala and Aboh Mbaise Federal Constituency. The assembly resolved that the seat should rotate between Ngor Okpala Local Government Area and Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area in order to promote equity, justice, and fairness among the two councils.

Similarly, the meeting agreed that the House of Representatives seat covering Ezinihitte Mbaise and Ahiazu Mbaise Federal Constituency should rotate between the two Local Government Areas in a manner that reflects fairness and equal opportunity for both areas.

The declaration also addressed what the leaders described as the long standing concern surrounding the House of Assembly seat in Ahiazu Mbaise. After careful deliberation, the assembly resolved that the next member to represent Ahiazu Mbaise State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly should come from Ekwereazu clan. The pronouncement was received with excitement and jubilation by delegates who described the decision as a major step toward restoring balance in the political structure of the area.

Speaking during the meeting, Chief Perry Oparah emphasised the need for Mbaise leaders to remain united and strategic in pursuing collective political interests. He noted that equity driven politics remains the most effective way to ensure stability, fairness, and sustainable development in the political life of any society.

He explained that the Mbaise Declaration represents a commitment by the people to pursue political engagement that prioritises justice, inclusiveness, and shared opportunities.

The meeting concluded with a strong appeal to political actors, community leaders, and stakeholders across Mbaise to respect and honour the Mbaise Declaration of 7th April 2026, describing it as a guiding political framework designed to promote unity and protect the long term interests of the Mbaise nation.
