Imo CPC Commend Uzodimma Over Orashi Electricity Project as Commissioner for Power Visits Council

 



The Imo State Consumer Protection Council (CPC) has commended the Imo State Government for the successful implementation of the Orashi Electricity Project, describing it as a landmark achievement in the quest to provide stable and reliable electricity to residents, businesses, and public institutions across the state.


The commendation came as the Commissioner for Power and Electrification, Engr. Nwabueze Oguchienti, FNSE, led a team of engineers and technical experts on a working visit to the headquarters of the Consumer Protection Council in Owerri to assess the facility and explore ways of ensuring its energisation under the ongoing electricity expansion programme of the state government.



Speaking during the visit, the Director General of the Imo State Consumer Protection Council, Hon. (Dr) Mrs. Obioma Okafor, expressed appreciation to the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, for his visionary leadership in the power sector through the Orashi Electricity Project.


According to her, the project has already begun transforming the electricity landscape in Owerri and other parts of the state, bringing hope to residents and business owners who have long desired a more reliable power supply.


Hon. (Dr) Mrs. Okafor noted that the availability of stable electricity is critical to economic growth, improved service delivery, and the efficient functioning of government institutions. She described the ongoing electrification efforts as a major boost to productivity and development in the state.


The Director General particularly appreciated the visit of the Commissioner and his team to the CPC headquarters, noting that their commitment to ensuring the energisation of the Council's building demonstrates the government's resolve to provide the necessary infrastructure required for public institutions to function effectively.


She stated that the CPC remains committed to protecting consumers and promoting public welfare, adding that access to reliable electricity would further enhance the Council's operational efficiency and service delivery.


Speaking during the inspection, Engr. Nwabueze Oguchienti, FNSE, reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of Power and Electrification to extending the benefits of the Orashi Electricity Project to government establishments and communities across the state.



He explained that the visit was part of efforts to assess the technical requirements for connecting and energising the CPC headquarters and ensuring that the facility benefits from the improved power infrastructure currently being deployed by the state government.


The Commissioner assured the management of the Council that the Ministry would continue to work towards ensuring stable electricity supply to strategic public institutions in line with the administration's development agenda.

The visit concluded with a technical assessment of the CPC complex and discussions on the necessary measures required to facilitate its connection to the power network.
