The Office of the Chief Political Adviser to the Governor of Imo State and Head of Political Bureau, Chief Perry Opara, on Friday 6th of November, 2026 at Rock view hotel, Owerri, established an Anti-Party and Coalition Monitoring Committee (APCOM) to monitor and report activities relating to the alleged involvement of members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Rainbow Coalition within the state.
The establishment of the committee is in furtherance of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s stated position that there should be no Rainbow Coalition in Imo State, as communicated through his consistent instructions on party cohesion and political coordination.
The committee, which is domiciled in the Office of the Chief Political Adviser, is expected to monitor developments across the 27 Local Government Areas and 305 wards of the state, particularly activities involving APC members that may be connected to the Rainbow Coalition.
Its membership is drawn from selected individuals and APC youth leaders across the local government areas and wards. The structure will also include two Ward Prosperity Officers from every ward in the state, providing a grassroots reporting network across Imo.
According to the Office of the Chief Political Adviser, APCOM is expected to provide a structured channel for receiving information, documenting relevant developments and reporting verified concerns regarding the activities of party members in relation to the Rainbow Coalition.
The committee will work with its members and designated representatives at the grassroots to ensure that information from the various communities is properly communicated to the appropriate authorities within the party and the Office of the Chief Political Adviser.
Speaking on the initiative, Chief Perry Opara said the establishment of APCOM was informed by the need to strengthen party coordination, improve grassroots communication and ensure that members understand the expectations of the party and the administration.
He noted that the Governor’s position on the Rainbow Coalition had been consistently communicated, adding that the new committee would provide an organised structure for monitoring developments and bringing relevant information to the attention of the appropriate authorities.
Opara further emphasised the importance of discipline, loyalty to party structures and responsible political engagement, urging committee members to discharge their duties professionally, objectively and with respect for the rights of individuals.
He also called on APC leaders and members across the state to remain engaged with the recognised party structures and communicate any concerns through appropriate channels.
The Office of the Chief Political Adviser stated that the committee would operate across all local government areas and wards, making it possible to receive information from different parts of the state and strengthen coordination between the political leadership and grassroots structures.
With the establishment of APCOM, the Office of the Chief Political Adviser has introduced an additional mechanism for monitoring party-related developments and improving political communication across Imo State.
