The embattled Imo State Internal Revenue Service Human Resource/Administration Head,Mrs. Chika Okoliegbe has flayed media report on alleged suspension from office over allegations of fraudulent pay rolling of the State Government Agency staff describing the publication as a frivolous act orchestrated by mischievous makers to malign her reputation.
Mrs Okoliegbe while addressing Newsmen on the matter stated that it is unfortunate that people could go such far to destroy others without clarification and proper investigative journalism before publication.
In her words," shortly after the administration of Chief Emeka Udegbulem as Chairman IIRS, there was an external staff audit exercise carried out by Anderson Tax Consultant Group from lagos and some staffers who were not visible during the audit were not captured so as to send their names with others to the State Database Centre for the onward payment of workers salary.
Bank Verification Numbers(BVN) were submitted. Few workers who couldn't provide their bank details were delayed before getting their salaries as they have been receiving their salaries cash from the Agency's Director of Accounts due to no possession of bank details.
By so doing,Imo Accountant-General revealed few workers who have been receiving double salaries. One from Ministry and other from the Agency. This was discovered through BVN. I was instructed to issue query to the suspected workers which I did and the erring staff turned out to fighting me. Then, the Issue of purchasing of Disel and fuel,it is not handle by my office as there are other sectors that check the processes of purchasing Disel and fuel before payment will be made by the Director of Finance. As Human Resource Head I don't interfere with clients and i also don't handle any financial transactions but deals directly on the staff welfarism".
"On the issue of the staff taking salaries two places is still pending but they thought that I was the one after them I was only acting on instructions as the Head of Human Hesources in IIRS".
Mrs Okoliegbe further hinted that another step that seemed to be annoying some staff of the IIRS was that she introduced effective duty style as she ensure that workers attendence register aways get signed off by 8:00am.
