Following the complaint of some of the leaders of Obi Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, over the power tussle crisis in the community, the Sole Administrator (SOLAD) of the LGA, Hon. Hamilton Chinasa Opara has assured the stakeholders of wading into the matter to ensure it is brought to an abrupt end.
Opara gave the assurance on Monday at the LGA Council Headquarters, when he invited the leaders of the community; including the persons accused of causing the crisis, but they did not honor the invitation.
Speaking early the President General of the autonomous community, Patrick Emeruem, narrated, "Our traditional ruler, HRH Eze Elder Dr. Josiah Osuji (JP), has not been seen in the community for close to three years now, which has led to lots of issues emanating in the community.
"One Chief Kyrian Onyeji, a titled Chief I our community is now claiming that he is our traditional Prime Minister, as around December, he came with the creation of an autonomous community and said he has collected certification from our traditional ruler to do so. When we found out that it was not our king that gave such authorization, we began kicking against it, but all we did fell on deaf ears.
"It was in the same vein that we found out that one Martin Onyeugo parading himself as the president general of our community, with his group have been using the king's signature and letterheaded paper to be causing lots of problem in our community.
"Another disturbing fact is that the wife of our ruler, and the palace Secretary are also supporting Onyeugo, Onyeji, and others in using the letter-headed paper of the king to create villages and collect money from the people.
"This is why we are calling on you, our SOLAD to intervene in the aforementioned issues, especially with knowing the way about of our traditional ruler, 'Emeruem stated.
This narrative was confirmed by some of the stakeholders; titled Chiefs in the community, Chief Adolphus Osuji, Chief Sir Sam Ozuzuma, Chief Emma Iwuagwu, some Village heads - Chief G.N Onuoha (Durueguzo, Obokwe in Obi Mbieri), Chief Ogidi Mishak (Amakohia Ebom), Chief Lucky Ohanyerenwa (Umuotunwoke 2), Chief Richard Uwandu (Okwoba, Umuagwu), among others that were present at the meeting.
Reacting, the SOLAD, Opara first advised the PG, Emeruem whose position is being dragged, to do his part in ensuring that peace returns in the community by exercising his rights as the PG.
He further pointed out that he is urging him to do so because not just the stakeholders in the community have confirmed that he is their authentic PG, but the State Government also as it has through the certificate issued to him, Emeruem proved so.
Opara made the PG understand, " the administrative problem of Obi Mbieri autonomous community can be solved if you can do less talking and take actions by getting Martin Onyeugo arrested whenever you see him parading himself as the PG of the community. If the Police require my presence on the matter, I will then come with the proof of your appointment as PG.
"I will on my handle the issue of your traditional ruler, HRH Eze Elder Dr. Josiah Osuji (JP) not being around for years now, the issue of people using his letter headed paper and signature to create autonomous communities, and also defrauding people, 'Opara assured.
He further advised the leaders to ensure that peace reigns in the community by standing for what is right, and not associating themselves with illegalities.
