In a statement released today, Dana Airline's spokesperson, Mr. Kingsley Ezenwa, confirmed that a Dana Airline aircraft, a McDonald Douglas MD-83 with registration 5N-BKI, veered off the runway at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The incident occurred during a flight from Abuja to Lagos on April 23, 2024. Fortunately, all 83 passengers and crew onboard were safely evacuated without any injuries.
Ezenwa expressed gratitude to the airport authorities and the airline's crew for their swift response and professionalism in handling the situation.
The aircraft has been grounded for further investigation by the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
Dana Airline extends its apologies to the affected passengers for any inconvenience caused and appreciates their patience and understanding.
