Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), has asserted that despite the evident economic challenges, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has performed commendably for Nigerians.
Speaking on Monday in Abuja at the APC National Secretariat, Uzodimma, who led several forum members on a visit to the party’s leadership, emphasized the party’s achievements during a session with the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
The PGF, an umbrella body of all serving governors elected on the APC platform, convened a closed-door meeting to maintain communication with the party's leadership and to express their loyalty.
The governors also took the opportunity to commiserate with Ganduje following the recent passing of his mother-in-law.
“Politically speaking, we don’t need to over-flog the horse. The truth of the matter is that the APC has done very well in Nigeria,” Uzodimma stated, attributing the country's current economic woes to global issues.
He assured that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration is implementing policies to address these challenges.
“I am very confident that very soon, Nigerians will be jubilant about how he has managed to navigate the waters,” Uzodimma added.
The meeting also served to reaffirm the governors' support and solidarity with the party’s national leadership.
“Those who are serving us, the national leadership of our party, are managing our party’s day-to-day affairs and looking after its policies and administration,” he said.
Uzodimma expressed optimism about the APC's chances in the upcoming Edo governorship election on September 21, citing the party's majority status.
A party like APC that is in control of 20 states out of 36, and also has produced a president and members of the Federal Executive Council in the majority, is well-positioned to win,” he noted.
Ganduje, in his remarks, appreciated the governors' visit, describing it as a significant boost for the party.
He assured that the party's leadership remains committed to maintaining a strong relationship with the governors and protecting their interests.
