Imo Govt Sets To Automate Land Administration


The State Government under the leadership of Sen.Hope Uzodimma has set machinery in motion for the automation of all lands activities and administration in the state.


The Chief of Staff Government House , Barr Nnamdi Anyaehie stated this when he came on a fact finding visit to the Ministry of Lands with a high powered committee made up of top government officials and  team of specialists from the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) who were contracted for the job 



Barr Anyaehie stated that the automation and digitilization  of the lands administration in the state will open the state for business as it will remove all bottlenecks prospective investors meet in the course of doing land and estate businesses in the state. He enjoin the staff members to give adequate cooperation to the NASRDA team, noting that there won't be any need for fear or panic as the system is coming to bring more efficiency to lands administration in the state.



Adding more light, the Secretary to the Government, Chief Cosmos Iwu stated that the process when completed will improve the ease of doing business in the state especially in the area of lands and estate business and management. He expressed his appreciation to the governor for putting Imo in the digital map and called on the staff of the ministry to provide all information and data needed for the timely completion of the process.



Speaking further, a member of the Committee and the Commissioner for Digital Economy & E Governance in the State, Dr Chimezie Amadi noted that digitizing and using tech to transform lands administration in the state is in line with Imo Economy Plan 2023 - 2033. He reiterated that with the  adoption of technology in lands administration, the earth capital that has remained locked in the state will be unlocked. He promised that his ministry in partnership with NASRDA will provide adequate capacity training for staff of the ministry to help them master the technology very well. 



Lending his voice, another member of the Committee who is the Political Bureau Chief  and a former Commissioner of Lands in the state, Barr. Enyinnaya Onuegbu admonished the technical staff of the ministries to help the facilitators by providing to them the necessary information and data relating to their various departments to enable them to produce a perfect system for the state.  He stated that the system when completed will be an end to end technology that will help greatly is solving the issue of land stock in the state.

 

Speaking on behalf of the team from the National Space Research and Development Agency, the SDM,  Dr. Godstime James stated that NASRDA has created  a system to manage and  solve the problems of land administration, noting  that the system is already working efficiently in some states at the moment. 

He stated that at the completion of the process  that Imo will be queued in to become part of the global business where people can do land businesses  in the state without being physically present or coming to the ministry.  

While assuring of massive capacity building, he stressed that those already performing the function will be retained as the technology will be designed  to help them perform their jobs better and not to sack them.


In her vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Mrs Angela Ohiri assured of the total cooperation of the staff towards the actualization of the project. Dr Ohiri who is equally a member of the Committee admonished the management staff, stating that the essence of the process is not for technology to replace the officers but to partner them for effective service delivery.
