It was a dream come true as a Former House of Assembly member, representing Owerri North State Constituency and the current Managing Director of NORTRA TRACTORS, Hon. Philip Ejiogu, achieved the birthing of Nortra Tractors, in Africa, with the Eastern States as the destination point.
Nortra Tractors is a subsidiary of ODK Group, Denmark and they have high reputation/specialization in manufacturing innovative and high quality agricultural equipment and machineries.
In the groundbreaking of Nortra Tractors Assembling plant and Service Center, Enugu State, His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, laid emphasis on acquisition of 1000 units of Nortra Tractors to commence the States Agricultural expansion mission. Enugu State Government has ordered for 200 tractors while 800 tractors would be assembled for them in Enugu State Assembling plant facilitated by Governor Peter Mbah. He reiterated that this patnership would grow Enugu State from $4.4b to the targeted $40b economy.
In his address, the M.D of Nortra Tractors Hon. Engr Philip Ejiogu, expressed his happiness as the dream of Agricultural Revolution in Nigeria has received a major boost. He said that with the economic down-turn experienced in families, agriculture is now the major saving grace aside God. He thanked the Enugu Governor for giving Nortra Tractors the enabling environment to commence operation in Africa. Hon Philip Ejiogu emphasized that Nortra Tractors activities would be felt in all States of federation starting from the Eastern States, especially in economic boost and youths employment generation.
Earlier in his address, the CEO of ODK Group, Denmark, Mr. Mortem Anderson, said he identified Enugu State as a State that is thriving powerfully in terms of innovation and commercialization. He appreciated His Excellency Dr. Peter Mbah for taking the State through this path. He promised ODK Group would definitely be partners in progress to the growth of the State's economy.
In coming months after the completion of the assembling plant, The Nortra Tractors would commence full activities in the Eastern States, which includes assisting small holder farmers and corporate organizations with the mechanized needs for their farms.
