At the 7th Conference of the Centre for Children Development and Communication Disorders, held in collaboration with the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, popularly known as "SamDaddy," and the current National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was honoured with the prestigious Award of Impact by the University of Port Harcourt for his remarkable contributions to journalism and media development.
The award was presented in recognition of Senator Anyanwu’s unwavering dedication to transformative communication and his significant influence in shaping Nigeria’s media landscape. His efforts to promote credible journalism and amplify societal issues through the media have earned him widespread admiration and respect.
The plaque of honour reads:

The award ceremony, held on March 6, 2025, brought together distinguished academics, media professionals, political figures, and students to celebrate Senator Anyanwu's enduring legacy of service and media advocacy. The event served as a platform to highlight the critical role of communication in societal development and the importance of recognizing those who champion the cause.
Presenting the award, Prof. Christie Omego, Director of the Centre for Children Development and Communication Disorders (CCDCD) and Head of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, commended Senator Anyanwu for his tireless commitment to advancing journalism and for using his influence to give voice to critical societal issues.
