Imo State Government, through the Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Hon. Dr. Emeka Mandela, and the Chairman of Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area, Hon Mrs.Chika Ibekwe, on Wednesday, engaged Ngor-Okpala youth stakeholders in a sensitization summit focused on youth empowerment and security
Addressing the large number of youth stakeholders at the council headquarters in Umuneke, Dr Mandala said the interaction session with Ngor-Okpala Youths served as a platform for open dialogue and engagement between the Imo state government officials and the Ngor-Okpala youths
He stressed the need for a greater percentage of youths to get involved in addressing security challenges to ensure a safer and secure environment.
Dr Mandela, who said the meeting was sanctioned by the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, assured that the skill-up program would be brought down to the grassroots.
He further said Senator Uzodinma is committed to finding solutions to insecurity and youth challenges, hence the need to engage the youth in the 27 council areas to get their perspective and inputs on some of his policies for youth in the state.
His words," Senator Uzodinma Uzodinma has asked me to get feedback from Ngor-Okpala Youths on the area to improve regarding personal welfare and businesses.
"We have been going round the 27 LGAs to hear from the youths; Today is the turn of Ngor-Okpala council area. Gov Uzodinma wants the government to be closer to Imo youths. We will take your message back to the governor for implementation."
Also speaking, the chairman of Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area, Hon.Mrs.Chika Ibekwe, said security and youth empowerment remain her topmost priority, promising the youths more empowerment opportunities and adequate security.
The vibrant council boss who spoke on the need for youth to get involved in tackling recent security challenges said the event underscores a collaborative effort to address youth-related issues and foster a peaceful and progressive environment within the council area.
While appreciating Governor Hope Uzodinma for his love and special interest in the Youths of Imo State, Hon.Ibekwe urged the youths to continue to give their full support to Senator Hope Uzodinma's administration.
According to her," Remember that you are an integral part of the government, and your contributions matter. I enjoined you to continue to support our Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, Onwa, and our government's efforts to eradicate crimes and insecurities in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area.
In his remarks, the vice chairman, Hon. Kizzito Onuoha, appreciated the commissioner for making out time to interface with the people of Ngor-okpala and also appreciated the Governor for trusting them to pilot the affairs of the Ngor-Okpala Local government Area.
