Lasting peace seemed to have returned in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State as the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Friday Ibekaeme Umunnakwe, celebrated Children's Day at the Headquarters,Awo Idemili, amidst jubilation.
Recall that Orsu Local Government was like a "grave yard" as a result of insecurity before the emergence of Hon. Friday Ibekaeme Umunnakwe as the Executive Chairman of the Council Area.
While every event that supposed to take place in Orsu used to be shifted to Owerri.

Speaking to newsmen, the Executive Orsu Council Area,Hon. Friday Ibekaeme Umunnakwe described children as the future of the nation.
Ibekaeme expressed happiness over the turn-out for the event.
He wished the children sound health and thanked God for the clement weather during the celebration.
The address written by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and read by the workaholic Chairman of Orsu Local Government, Hon.Ibekaeme read,"my dear Children, the pride and future of our great nation, I join you to celebrate the 2025 National Children's Day with immense pride and profound joy. On this special day, let me reaffirm our commitment to nurturing and protecting you as Nigeria's future leaders,innovators and changemakers.
My fellow Nigerians and our dear children,we prioritize child protection under the renewed hope agenda. This includes the full implementation of Nigeria's National Plan of Action on Ending Violence Against Children (2024 "2030), which I recently launched. The Plan provides a comprehensive roadmap to prevent abuse,prosecute perpetrators, and support victims, backed by robust financing and multi-sectoral coordination.
I am pleased to note that 36 states have domesticated the Child Rights Act,thus reflecting our collective resolve to protect and provide for welfare of children".
Hon. Ibekaeme expressed happiness that peace has returned to his LGA, recounting his adopted strategies for fighting the hoodlums in Orsu.
He praised Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State for his untiring efforts in fighting criminals in the State.
The Executive Chairman thanked the local vigilant group and security personnel for their proactiveness.
"Let me also command Odinma Orsu for its contributions in fighting the hoodlums. I am committed in ensuring that peace returns in Orsu Local Government Area ",he assured.
