Honourable (Dr) Mrs Obioma Okafor, the Director General of the Imo State Consumer Protection Council, recently received a distinguished Meritorious Award at Trinity Theological College Umuahia, an affiliate of the University of Nigeria Nsukka.
The award, presented under the title “Light of the World,” celebrated her exceptional support for the growth and development of the institution and its student body. College authorities noted that her commitment to educational advancement, community upliftment, and the protection of consumer rights has made her a positive influence across the region.
The ceremony, which brought together respected academics, clergy, and government officials, highlighted Okafor’s record of service and her dedication to initiatives that promote societal wellbeing. Speakers at the event commended her steadfast leadership and described her as a model public servant whose contributions continue to inspire.
In her appreciation remarks, Honourable Dr Mrs Okafor expressed profound gratitude to the college leadership for considering her worthy of the honour. She described the award as a “humbling and motivating recognition,” adding that it would strengthen her resolve to continue supporting educational institutions, promoting community development, and defending the rights of consumers in Imo State and beyond.
