The Deeper Life Student Outreach Imo State Branch has organised a one day Valentine programme for secondary school students across Owerri and its environs, with a focus on promoting godly love and responsible relationships among teenagers.
The outreach arm of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, dedicated to evangelising and discipling secondary school students, brought together participants from Girls Secondary School Ikenegbu, Owerri City School, Baptist High School, Uratta Secondary School, Government College Secondary School, Emmanuel College, Government Technical College and Young Scientists School.
In his welcome address ,the State Coordinator,of the DLSO,Pastor(Dr) Oluwaseyi Ogungbenro,thanked the students for coming, while stressing the importance of receiving the love of God through Jesus Christ.
Pastor Oluwaseyi,also admonished the students to reciprocate the love of their parents and teachers by showcasing good characters worthy of praise.
The programme featured special numbers and separate seminars for both boys and girls.on healthy relationships and setting boundaries was handled by seasoned executives of the DLSO, teaching students the importance of self discipline, moral purity and purpose driven living.
A quiz competition which focused on Imo State at 50 and on the lessons of the seminar was conducted. Winners went home with gifts, adding excitement and enthusiasm to the event.
Speaking during a short exhortation on Saint Valentine, The DLSO Owerri Region School Outreach Coordinator, Pascal Nzereogu, narrated the story of Saint Valentine and explained the true meaning of love. He cautioned the students against the worldly pattern of celebrating Valentine’s Day, stressing that real love is enduring and purposeful, not a one day celebration centred on pleasure.
He warned that many destinies have been destroyed because people chose pleasure instead of purpose.
