A frontline grassroots mobiliser and development advocate, Ezinwa George Okpechukwuwara Okonkwo, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Ahiazu Mbaise State Constituency seat in the 2027 general election in Imo State, presenting a comprehensive ten point agenda aimed at ushering in a new era of integrity, unity, and people centred governance.
The declaration took place at his hometown, Mpam Okponkume, Ekwereazu, in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, during a strategic gathering of members of his political structure, some stakeholders of Ahiazu Mbaise, and faithful of the All Progressives Congress, who expressed readiness to mobilise support ahead of the forthcoming political activities in the state.
Speaking at the event, the Coordinator of Ahiaoma 2027 Project, Hon. Peter Osuji, charged party leaders and members to brace up for the upcoming state congress, emphasising the need to strengthen the structure of the party at the grassroots. He noted that the time had come for committed members to identify and consolidate the party’s base by recognising verified card carrying members of the APC.
Hon. Osuji described Okpechukwuwara as a man who rose from humble beginnings and has consistently maintained strong ties with the grassroots. According to him, the aspirant has distinguished himself through sustained empowerment of women, men, and youths across communities, adding that his emergence would redefine political leadership in Ahiazu Mbaise State Constituency.
In his address, Okpechukwuwara, a House of Assembly hopeful, commended the Governor of Imo State for the successful conduct of the recently concluded Local Government and State Congresses. He also congratulated the State Chairman of the APC and the entire party executives for their leadership and commitment to strengthening internal democracy within the party.
Highlight of the meeting was the adoption of the aspirant’s ten point agenda as a working document for the progress of Ahiazu Mbaise. The motion for its adoption was moved by Hon. Lawrence Azubike from Ogbe Ward and seconded by Hon. Edmond Enwereji of Oparanadim Ward, both of whom described the blueprint as practical and people oriented.
Also speaking, Hon. Ngozi Aririguzo lauded the aspirant’s vision and speech, stressing that politics should be guided by inclusiveness and maturity. She cautioned against divisive tendencies often described as pull him or her down syndrome and advised the aspirant to maintain a large and accommodating heart in his political dealings.
Presenting his vision titled “A New Dawn for Ahiazu Mbaise: Restoring Integrity, Unity, and Progress,” Okpechukwuwara outlined a comprehensive ten point agenda focused on transparent leadership, peace and reconciliation, youth empowerment, women inclusion, infrastructure development, education, healthcare improvement, agricultural revitalisation, security enhancement, and partnership with traditional and religious institutions.
He described Ahiazu Mbaise as a land blessed with rich agricultural resources, industrious people, and strong cultural heritage, noting that the constituency occupies a strategic position in the political and developmental landscape of Imo State.
Okonkwo emphasised that his ambition was driven not by personal gain but by a genuine desire to serve the people and restore confidence in leadership. He called on the people of Ahiazu Mbaise to unite and support a collective vision that would unlock the full potential of the area.
The meeting ended with renewed commitment among party faithful to work towards a united and progressive Ahiazu Mbaise as the 2027 general election approaches.
