The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Imo State,  has revealed that it is dedicating its 89th and 90th school outings to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP. Olatunji Disu and the Force spokesman, Anietie Iniedu.

A former Chairman of the PCRC, Mr Chima Chukwunyere, said this while addressing newsmen in Owerri, on Wednesday.

The PCRC in Imo State,  has engaged in a campaign against crime, criminality and cultism in schools since October, 2016, and visited 88 schools.

Chukwunyere who doubles as National Consultant on community policing to PCRC’s national leadership, urged traditional rulers, community and religious leaders to feel free to contact the PCRC to educate their children and youths about the ills associated with vices.

He said that the PCRC is collaborating with Scripture Union members in the schools and relevant civil society organisations to sensitise students.

He commended his wife, Mrs Chukwunyere and daughter,  Miss Chukwunyere,  the  state,  PCRC Chairman, Dr. Bertram Uzodinma, for their physical and moral support.

He also thanked Aboh Mbaise,  PCRC Chairman, Mr Boniface Erege who donated the sum of N250,000 to support the campaign, as well as the committee’s life patron and Chief Executive Officer of Zanders FM, Owerri, Chief Kennedy Zanders for granting free airtime to the PCRC for the publicity of its activities.

“ We collaborate with SU members to reach the hearts of students, have been on radio for over 14 years, and, as a result, many students have renounced cultism and other vices.

“ Between August 2008 and November 2025, I gave the Police complementary hotel accommodation for Police on transfer and special duties to the tone of N8,950,000, in addition to their unpaid house rent of N1,300,000”, he said.

Chukwunyere called for mandatory drug tests for school intakes as a measure to curb abuse.

He also urged the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to slash the cost of rehabilitation for drug users in their facility, for increased affordability, as the world marks the UN Drug Abuse Day.
