It was a new day in community service for Egbu ancient history , Owerri -North Local government , Imo state as a Vibrant Journalist, Ozurumba Ikechukwu emerged Council Chairman for MPAMA Egbu Community.
Ozurumba Ikechukwu , a correspondent of Imo based regional Daily tabloid , the Daily Nigerian Horn Newspapers defeated three other Contestants to emerge Mpama Egbu Community Council Chairman.
The correspondents who monitored the election reports that it was free, credible and fair Process that has raised hopes that Nigerians would be better of, if Journalists are involved in selecting Leaders for Societal advancements.A
Announcing winners of the Mpama Egbu Community Council Chairmanship election , Mr Okey Osuji , Leader electoral Committee in Egbu declared the Vibrant Journalist Ikechukwu Ozurumba as scoring One hundred and Sixteen ( 116) Votes while Ifeanyi Echebina scored 82, one other Ozurumba Aaron Pulled 51 Votes. Ifeany Ajoku ganared 22 votes.
Speaking to Journalists after being declared Winner, Mr Ozurumba lauded the electoral empire and Community Leaders for transparency. He assured that his emergence remains a Pointer to expectations of Nigerians that Youths, especially Journalists are focal to upliftment of the society.
The Mpama Egbu Community council Chairman declared his readiness to use his position and Profession to think outside the box for the improvement of Egbu. He observed that Egbu is blessed with a visionary Monarch that needs the collaboration of honest and hard working Council Chairmen to profer solutions to various Challenges such as threatening erosion menace and other ecological issues.
The HORN Jounalist urged loosers in the contest to join hands with him as Egbu is one.
The Chairman of Ebiri Ogueri expressed optimism that emergence of Ozurumba Ikechukwu will fast track upliftments going by his Pedigree , exposure and sincerity of Purpose. He appealed to Nigerians to give youths ample opportunities in Leaderships.
