Given the current state of affairs in Nigeria, which appears to defy every known solution proposed thus far, the recent call for the 2023 election to be postponed and an interim government to be established after Buhari's presidency to help in the birth of a new constitution that reflects the people's will to usher in a better Nigeria for us and future generations is a step in the right direction.
In Nigeria, there is insecurity and corruption everywhere. The order of the day is ethics politics with a side of animosity. In the name of religion, so many lives and properties have been lost. The masses suffer daily as a result of their leaders' dishonesty, corruption, and selfishness.
Almost all of today's politicians are only in politics to enrich themselves and their families, not to serve the people. And I blame the current constitution, which was imposed on us by the military in 1999, for making politics so appealing by providing little or no standard for vetting those who are to be elected leaders. This has resulted in a slew of issues that have brought Nigeria to its knees, including calls for secession from some ethnic groups within the country.
We can't afford to pretend that everything is fine in Nigeria since all we have now is a pampered calm. There is a lot of tension in the politics, and it needs to be addressed if Nigeria is to progress as planned.
When you consider that Nigeria has been ruled by more than one ethnic group since independence, it's clear that the subject of leadership and transformation is about having a true Nigerian at the helm of operations, not about the ethnic group from which the president originates. Someone who will once and for all address Nigeria's existing socio-economic, political, and religious issues. We've been going around in circles for far too long, and it's time to stop the cycle of repetition and stagnation.
Who wouldn't want to live in a Nigeria with constant light and top-notch protection for their lives and property? Where our unemployed youths employed, and all ethnic groups calling for separation live in peace and harmony? Where the refineries operating at full capacity, and the Naira is strengthening? Where everything that tempts us to seek brighter pastures abroad is there on our doorstep? Consider what it would be like to live in a Nigeria like this.
Unfortunately, all of the aforementioned lofty goals cannot be realized under our current constitutional framework, which encourages politicians to see politics as a lucrative business rather than a public service. And this is why Nigeria is in turmoil: we have the wrong people in authority, who regard politics as a do-or-die game based on the rewards of office.
Nigeria can only be redeemed if we restructure the way Nigeria is and functions through a national conference or whatever it may be called, especially by making politics less appealing and focusing on service to the people rather than the business of power and wealth to attract the ideal pool of people, whom I refer to as true Nigerians, to carry out the recommendations of such a national conference and usher in a better, peaceful, and harmonious Nigeria.
Only a true Nigerian, not Hausa, Yoruba, or Igbo President, can bring about the required transformation, as history has shown.
Therefore the recent proposal to postpone the 2023 election and establish an interim administration following Buhari's presidency to help in the birth of a new constitution that reflects the people's will to usher in a better Nigeria for us and future generations is a step in the right direction.

We Need A True Nigerian President
