Uzodinma doesn't tamper with LG. Allocations - Ihitte Uboma SOLAD

 



Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent allegations that some state governors are diverting funds meant for local councils for personal use, Chief Uche Konkwo, the sole Administrator of Ihitte Uboma local government has stated that Senator Hope Uzodimma , the Governor of Imo State does not tamper with local government allocations in the state.


The Sole Administrator made this known at the end of the year get together of Amakaohia town union association Ihitte Uboma local government area Owerri branch, which took place at the city college, Owerri over the weekend.

Chief Konkwo who is also the vice chairman of the association and  chairman of the event explained that president Buhari's statement was generalised and devoid of mentioning the specific State Governors guilty of this practice. 

He pointed out that since his appointment has Solad of Ihitte Uboma local government, he has been receiving the allocations of his local government in full and that this also applied to other local governments in the State.

Chief Konkwo who said he is on his "third missionary journey" as chairman of Ihitte Uboma local government said that because of his receipt of the local government allocations, he has been able to achieve much in the innovation of the council headquarters, schools, health centers and other dilapidated public institutions in the area.



He also made it known that rural roads in the area are receiving massive reconstruction and that environmental sanitation in the Local Government has massively been improved.

Chief Konkwo thanked Governor Uzodimma for what he described as the Governor's favourable disposition to the area which he has demonstrated by appointing indigenes of the area into responsible positions. He disclosed that the present vice Chancellor of Imo State University of agriculture and environmental services is a son of Ihitte Uboma as well as two commissioners and Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on sanitation.

The Solad thanked God for Keeping members of the association alive and commended them for what he called their loyalty.

 He prayed that the association will grow from strength to strength.



In his speech, the chairman of Amakaohia town Union Association Owerri branch, Chief Ambrose Onuoha who reflected on the history of the Association said that this year's get together marks the 22nd edition of the event since its inception. He said that initially the had one Autonomous community but now has two which are Amakaohia and Ekwerocha Autonomous communities respectively. He is happy that despite the split they are still United and have achieved a lot in the development of the communities, he urged the members to keep the flag flying as they look forward to higher achievements.

The chairman of the organising committee of the event, Mr. Ogenna Chukwu called on the unregistered members of the town to quickly do the needful by registering with the association as according to him they have alot to benefit as registered members, he thanked members of the association for their corporation that brought about the successful outing this year.

A chieftain of the association and coordination of the event, Comrade Chidiadi Ibe in his speech thanked God for his mercies on the association. He described this year's event as very successful and encouraged the members not to relent in moving the association forward.

The occasion witnessed the presentation of awards on the indigens of the area who the association pointed at to have contributed immersely, meritoriously and selflessly to the upliftment of the town. Some of them includes, Chief Ambrose Onuoha, Chief Bar. Uche Konkwo, Chief A.C Keke, Honourable Chike Olembe and Chief Bar. Kelechi Emeakoroha. Others are Mrs. Theresa Okoro, Chief Eng. Nnamdi Ajaelu and Honourable Michael Onyemechi Njoku, member representing Ihitte Uboma State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly. 

The event which turned out to be a classical show of convivialities among members and invited guests witnessed the rich cultural dance of the people "OKONKO" with it's captivating masquareds and out of the world acrobatic displays.

Dignitaries that graced the occasion includes, Honourable Chike Okafor, member representing Okigwe South in the Federal House of representative Abuja, Chief Alex Okefor, retired ACP and Chief Security Officer of Imo State university of Agriculture and environmental sciences, Chief Chris Akaraonye immediate past chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists Imo State Council, president generals of Amakaohia and Ekwerocha Autonomous communities and a host of others.

Earlier in the day the members of the association held a Thanksgiving service at St. Matthew Catholic Church MCC Road to thank God for his mercies and protections to them through out the year
