Opara Emerge Chairman of National Forum of Political Advisers in Nigeria.

  



Chief Perry Opara has been unanimously elected Chairman of the National Forum for Political Advisers (NAFOPA).


The announcement came after a high-profile meeting of the forum held on Tuesday , 1st of July 2025 at Transcorp Hilton hotel Abuja marking a new chapter in the life of the group.


Also,  Hon Ahmed Mohammed, Political Advisers to Nasarawa State Governor, was elected Secretary of the group.


Chief Opara, a seasoned political strategist and administrator, has an extensive track record of leadership across various political and professional organizations.


He is also the Political Adviser to the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.


NAFOPA is the umbrella group of all Political Advisers to State Governors in Nigeria.


Speaking shortly after his election, Chief Opara expressed gratitude to the members of the forum for entrusting him with the position.


“I am deeply honored by this unanimous decision, and I pledge to bring innovation, integrity, and diligence to this role,” he said.


“NAFOPA will serve as a platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and advancing professionalism in political advising,” he noted.


Chief Opara has held several prominent positions throughout his career, underscoring his deep-rooted influence in the political sphere.


He served as the National Chairman of the National Unity Party (NUP) and President of the Nigerian Union of Political Parties.


His international credentials include his role as the International President of the West African Association of Political Parties (WAAPP).


At the national level, Chief Opara has contributed to political stability and cooperation as the National Chairman and National Secretary of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).


He also served as Chairman of the Finance and General Purpose Committee for the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).


Chief Opara has also served as Deputy Director and Director of the Goodluck Support Group (GSG) and was a key member of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.


Beyond politics, Chief Opara chairs notable organizations, including the Institute of Health Insurance and Managed Care of Nigeria and the Institute of Politics Funtaj.


He had at one time also presided over the National Leadership Awards.


The newly elected Chairman described his vision for NAFOPA as one focused on uniting political advisers across the nation and elevating the standards of political consultancy.
