In about 30 days from now, the 10th National Assembly will be inaugurated.
Elected members of the green and red chambers of the Assembly will commence legislative business which entails making laws for the overall growth of the Nation, as well as advocating for the well-being of their various senatorial districts and federal Constituencies.
It must be stated that leadership entails selfless service as well as giving the people a sense of belonging in governance.
However, while some members of the 9th Assembly would beat their chest for serving and representing their people positively, some, whose representation brought nothing, but division and retrogression, would return to their constituencies, either to embark on a campaign of calumny aimed at running down the elected legislators or to create unnecessary schisms.
The above stated is a perfect illustration of the outgoing lawmaker of Okigwe South Federal Constituency.
The Obowo-born politician who rode to power in a platter of gold, and through the instrumentality of ex-Governor Rochas Okorocha, did little or nothing to better the living standards of his fellow constituents.
I stumbled into a Newspaper publication where the outgoing lawmaker was quoted as saying that he would retrieve his mandate in court.
At first, I was perplexed, thus, wondering the mandate he was talking about: everyone in Okigwe South Federal Constituency can bear witness to the fact, that the people of Okigwe South voted massively for Jonas Okeke.
They refused to re-elect a man who has failed in all facets of governance and impactful representation.
The people showed him the way out of power through the ballot, as it is widely known that in a democracy, the majority would have their way, while the minority would have their say.
The incoming Member Elect, Rt Hon Jonas Okeke is a household name in Imo State. He was elected, Member representing Ihitte Uboma State Constituency at the Imo State House of Assembly in 2007.
At the inauguration of that Assembly, Jonas Okeke emerged as the Deputy Speaker of the House.
His representation witnessed all round developments in Ihitte Uboma LGA.
Many sons and daughters of the area were empowered with various skills as a way of boosting their livelihood.
Those in higher institutions then, gotscholarshipsp to complete their education.
The Member Elect transformed Ihitte Uboma LGA and made it the envy of other LGAs in the state.
His love for his people is second to none.
No doubt, Okigwe South Federal Constituency is set to record another resounding development under the able representation of this great leader of our time.
Hear Rt Hon Jonas Okeke, speak about Okigwe South Federal Constituency" My joy is to see our constituency develop like other constituencies, our youths should be encouraged to develop their skills, which will transform and make them great ambassadors of Okigwe South".
After listening to Rt Hon Jonas Okeke's vision for Okigwe South Federal Constituency, you will appreciate the passion he has for the development of Okigwe South.
He has shown that he is prepared to take Okigwe South to the promised land, where every part of the Constituency would be carried along in developmental projects...indeed, Okigwe South Federal Constituency will smile again.
