Foundation registers 100 students for WASSCE in Imo

Sir Clement Chuku Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation, has sponsored the registration of 100 students for the year 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The foundation’s Proprietor and Founder, Mrs Ekeleoma Chuku disclosed this in an interaction with newsmen in her hometown of Onicha in Ezinihitte Mbaise council area of the state on Monday.

Ekeleoma, a US based lawyer, who was represented by the foundation’s Director of Protocol and Logistics, Mr Dennis Osum said that the beneficiary students were drawn from Umuevu, Umuaghara and Umuvu villages, in Onicha Nwenkwo town as well as from Obokwu Obizi village all in Ezinihitte council area.

She also said that the beneficiaries have enjoyed free preparatory lesson classes since January 2023 adding that the foundation did same for 30 students in 2022 who performed excellently in the WASSC examinations.

According to her, the gesture was borne out of a desire to preserve the legacies of her late father who had a strong penchant for education but unfortunately lost a battle to prostrate cancer.

“ Our Foundation offers not just free WASSCE registration also free test and treatment for prostrate cancer patients, all in memory of my father, Late Sir Clement Chuku who died of complications resulting from prostrate cancer.

“ We are well established in the United States and we have concluded arrangements to kick off operations in Malawi just like we have here in Nigeria “, she said.

Speaking, Coordinator of the preparatory lesson centre, Mr Ugochukwu Echehie, said that the centre employed the services of teachers specialized in the humanities , sciences and business management areas to accommodate students’ areas of concentration.

Also, the Foundation’s Director of Human Resources, Mr Chinonye Ezurike, said the organisation also provided cash for 40 women of Onicha town during the period of a cash crunch brought about by the Naira Redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Ezurike, who is also the Special Adviser on Planning and Execution to the Sole Administrator for Ezinihitte council area, Mr Chukwuma Ojukwu, expressed confidence that Government would partner the foundation in the near future to consolidate its successes.

One of the beneficiaries, Alphonsus Okoro, a student of Onicha Secondary School, Ezinihitte Mbaise, said he would pay back the foundation by working hard and excelling in the examinations.

Another beneficiary, Miracle Ofoma, a student of Mbaise Girls High School, Onicha, thanked the foundation for the “great opportunity “ and prayed God to reward the Founder.
