Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, announced that the government is ready to empower 40,000 more Imo youths with digital skills.
He made the statement on Wednesday at the Imo State stadium during the closing ceremony of the cohort 2 Imo Skillup Program. This program is part of the government's initiative to promote digital economy policy and train and empower youths in digital skills.
The governor's announcement was met with excitement and enthusiasm from the cohort 2 graduates and other attendees. The governor emphasized the importance of digital skills in today's world and how it can help the youth to be self-reliant and contribute to the growth of the state's economy.
He also encouraged the graduates to make the most of the skills they have acquired and to use them to create job opportunities for themselves and others.
The Imo Skillup Program is just one of the many initiatives by the Imo State government to train and empower youths in digital skills. According to the governor, his government has set a target to train and empower over 100,000 youths in digital skills.
The government has also introduced weekly youth digital skills competitions to ignite and unlock students' digital literacy ingenuity and innovation.
In addition, the government has empowered 15,000 youths with digital skills and 100 physically challenged citizens with digital skills and cash incentives.
The Skillup Imo Challenge has also been introduced to accelerate the development of digital skills among youths in the state.
The government's efforts to train and empower youths in digital skills are commendable and will go a long way in reducing unemployment and promoting economic growth in the state. The story of the 40,000 Imo youth who will be empowered with digital skills is just one of the many success stories that will emerge from these initiatives.
