The family of the late Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has disclosed the details of his burial arrangements.
Mr Ibu, beloved for his comedic roles, tragically passed away after a prolonged battle with an undisclosed illness, leading to the amputation of his leg.
According to a statement jointly signed by Ibu’s brother, Elder Sunday Okafor, the burial is scheduled to take place in his hometown of Amuri, located in the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The statement describes the late actor as a hero and a legend, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and liveliness. It invites friends, fans, and well-wishers to join the family in honoring his memory.
The burial ceremony is set to span five days, commencing on Tuesday, June 25th, with a high-profile novelty match. Wednesday, June 26th, will feature "Mr Ibu’s Night," including a candlelight procession and live entertainment.
On June 27th, a Christian Wake will be held at his compound in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West, leading up to the funeral service on June 28th. The ceremony will culminate on Sunday, June 30th, with a Church Thanksgiving for family members, friends, and well-wishers.
The announcement signifies a final opportunity for those touched by Mr Ibu's work to pay their respects and celebrate his life.
