Coronation of Amato Monarch Set for 26th December, 2025 – Committee Chairman Declares

The much-anticipated coronation of His Royal Highness Eze Michael Iroanulam Ogbonna, the traditional ruler of Amato Democratic Autonomous Community, has been officially scheduled to take place on 26th December 2025. This was made known by the Chairman of the Coronation Planning Committee, Chief Kelechi Nwokonna, during the formal inauguration of the committee at the Chairman's resident.

In his address, Chief Nwokonna stated that the committee was carefully constituted based on trust and love for the people of Amato, noting that the event is not just a celebration but a moment of history and community pride. He emphasised the need for every member of the committee to embrace their responsibilities with a deep sense of service and selflessness.

“You are here to serve the people. This is a call to duty. Whatever you must do to ensure the success of this coronation, please do it with all sincerity. Remember, posterity will be the one to reward you, not even the traditional ruler or the people,” the chairman declared.

He also encouraged constructive criticism, saying, “This committee is open to criticism, but it must be constructive. Whatever lies within my power to ensure we succeed, I will not hesitate to do it.”

Chief Nwokonna went on to announce Hon. David Ihediohamadu as the Financial Secretary of the committee, describing the appointment as a strategic move to ensure balanced power-sharing and efficient financial management as approved by the town union executives.

Following the chairman’s speech, the Secretary of the Committee, Hon. Chinonso Iwueke, read out the names of members and their various subcommittees. The committees include: Committee on Works, Committee on Entertainment, Security and Taskforce Committee, Publicity and Protocol Committee

and Finance Committee

It was clearly outlined that the Coronation Committee has the mandate to oversee all aspects of the ceremony, including sourcing of funds, construction of the traditional palace, procurement of a vehicle for the monarch, provision of 13 cows, food and drinks, royal chairs for the traditional ruler and his queen, production of the event brochure and flex banners, video coverage, radio announcements, uniforms, souvenirs, and post-event accounting.

The planning committee is also expected to ensure a smooth and memorable celebration that reflects the cultural pride and unity of the Amato people. Stakeholders across the community have been urged to lend their support to ensure the successful execution of this historic event.

The coronation, many say, will not only affirm Eze Ogbonna’s traditional authority but will also symbolise a new beginning for peace, unity, and development in Amato Autonomous Community.
