Tinubu Pushes for Unified and Stronger APC in South-East, Says Deputy Speaker Kalu

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria's South-East region.

Kalu disclosed this directive during a stakeholder meeting held in Abia State on Tuesday.

Addressing party leaders and members, Kalu urged the dissolution of existing factions within the party to foster unity and enhance the APC's political influence in the region.

“I don’t believe in factions. Everyone is my brother and friend. We are one family. Those talking about factions should have a rethink.

Stop talking about factions and allow people to mingle. This is the beauty of party politics. Everybody must come together, let’s work together,” Kalu stated.

He relayed President Tinubu's message, stressing the importance of cooperation among party members to consolidate the party's strength in the South-East. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said the party should work together.

Nothing else matters. I can tell you his body language is to make the party stronger in South East. And this should start from us in Abia State,” he added.

Kalu reiterated that President Tinubu does not support the factionalization of the APC, emphasizing that unity is crucial for the party's success. He called on all members to reconcile differences and collaborate for a common goal.

“President Tinubu is not interested in the factionalization of the party. You think he will clap for you because you have small factions? No.

He will only clap for you because you are working together. So, collapse the factions, let’s work together.

The doors and windows of this party should be open. Let’s bring everyone on board. We should reconcile with everyone and make peace.

So that we can work as a formidable force. Once we unite, other political parties should be afraid. As you know, united we stand but divided we fall,” Kalu emphasized.

In his remarks, Abia State APC chairman Kingsley Ononogbu expressed gratitude for Kalu's efforts and pledged his commitment to strengthening the party in the state.

The meeting convened by Kalu saw the attendance of the 17 local government chairmen and 184 ward chairmen of the APC in Abia State.
