It was a moment of celebration and unity on Tuesday as indigenes of OKWU NGURU, EGBEREDE NGURU, and EZIALA NGURU, which make up the UMUNNEATO Autonomous Community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, gathered for the official inauguration of their newly elected President General and other community leaders.
The well-attended ceremony brought together political stalwarts, traditional rulers, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from across the region. Dignitaries at the colourful event included Chief Christogonus Ugochukwu Okoro (Agbara.com), Chief Charles Ogu (APC Apex Leader, Aboh Mbaise), and Chief C.E. Ikwu (Dike Omereoha I) and Silas CHUKWUDI ODOEMENE Media and publicity, UMUNNEATO AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY.
Royal presence graced the occasion as His Royal Highness Eze Leo Nwakocha (Choko Arugwu I of UMUNNEATO) and HRH Eze Ndi Eze of Owerri Zone, along with his cabinet, offered blessings and cultural honour to the new leadership.
The high point of the event was the inauguration of Hon. Kennedy C. Anaele as the new President General of UMUNNEATO Autonomous Community. He was joined by other newly elected leaders including Mrs Chinwe Anyanwu (Women Leader), Mr Amadi Chiedozie Charles (Secretary to the Community Government – SSG), and Mr Godian Ekechukwu (Youth Leader), who were all celebrated by the community.
In a show of solidarity and political alignment, the leaders present at the occasion jointly appreciated His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his outstanding leadership, infrastructural development, and giant strides in Imo State. They particularly acknowledged the love and attention he has shown to the people of Owerri Zone, describing his administration as people-oriented and development-driven.
Speaking on behalf of the political leadership, Hon. John Ikewe, a serving Councillor in Aboh Mbaise who represented both the LGA Chairman and the Governor of Imo State, further reinforced this message. He commended the governor for his continuous efforts in transforming the state and for extending goodwill to rural communities. Hon. Ikewe congratulated the newly inaugurated community leaders and urged them to serve with commitment and humility.
The LGA Chairman, through his representative, also extended his felicitations to the UMUNNEATO Autonomous Community, reaffirming the government’s support and readiness to work hand-in-hand with the new leadership to achieve more developmental goals.
The event came to a close with words of gratitude, goodwill messages, and prayers from traditional leaders and elders. In his response, the new President General, Hon. Anaele, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and promised to prioritise peace, development, and unity across the three communities.
The inauguration was widely described as a resounding success and a hopeful beginning for a new era of inclusive leadership in the UMUNNEATO Autonomous Community.
