The Imo State Forum of Local Government Directors of Administration and General Services (DAGS) recently held its Annual Thanksgiving and Get-together in grand style, bringing together Directors from the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
The event, led by the Chairman of the Forum, Dr. Eustace Chidi Okere, kicked off with a Thanksgiving Service at St. James Anglican Church, Uzii, Owerri, where members thanked God for life, protection, and successful service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the Forum, Sir Uche Iwuorisha, DAGS of Ohaji-Egbema LGA and National Auditor II of the Forum of Heads of the 774 Local Government Administration in Nigeria (FOHOLGAN), expressed gratitude to God and requested continued prayers from the Church.
In his remarks, Dr. Okere recalled the painful loss of some members, which delayed the Thanksgiving for about one year, and appreciated the church leadership for their prayers and understanding. He also commended the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his infrastructural strides, prompt payment of workers’ salaries, improved welfare of workers, and the appointment of Dr. Nick Obinatu as Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission.
The Forum congratulated the Governor on the celebration of Imo at 50 and prayed for sustained peace and security in the state.
As part of the programme, members visited the Imo State Correctional Centre, Owerri, where food items were donated to inmates. The event later concluded with a lively get-together at Rockview Hotel, Owerri.
In a vote of thanks, the Organizing Chairperson, Mrs. Ijeoma Chukwukadibia, DAGS Mbaitoli LGA, appreciated members for their unity, resilience, and support.
The event was graced by the State NULGE President, Comrade Okey Okere, the Chairman of the Forum of Treasurers, Chief Sabinus Nnanyere, and spouses of some DAGS members.
