Opara Urges Owerri Zone APC Leaders to Embrace Charter of Equity for Fairness, Justice

The Chief Political Adviser to the Governor of Imo State and Head of Political Bureau, Chief Perry Oparah, has extended a goodwill message to the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress in Owerri Zone, commending them for what he described as a remarkable outing and their continued commitment to the growth and stability of the party.

Oparah gave the commendation while sending his goodwill message to the party leaders and stakeholders from the zone, where he praised their unity and dedication to strengthening the structures of the party across the area.

He charged the leaders to remain steadfast and committed to the actualisation of the mandate of the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, noting that the administration has continued to prioritise development, stability, and inclusive governance across the state.

According to him, the achievements recorded by the current administration are a reflection of purposeful leadership and the collective support of party faithful across the state. He therefore encouraged leaders of the party in Owerri zone to sustain their support for the governor and continue mobilising grassroots support for the party.

Oparah further urged the leaders to adopt and promote the Charter of Equity at all levels of political engagement within the zone. He explained that the principle of equity, justice, and fairness remains essential in ensuring unity and balanced political representation among communities.

He noted that the Charter of Equity, which has gained wider acceptance across the state, provides a strategic pathway for strengthening political harmony and ensuring that all sections of the state feel a sense of belonging in the political process.

The political adviser also urged political leaders across Imo State to take the gospel of the Charter of Equity to every nook and cranny of the state as a guiding principle in the distribution of political offices within their localities.

According to him, the Imo Charter of Equity has come to stay as a way of life and a determinant in the distribution of political offices across wards, local government areas, state constituencies, federal constituencies, and the senate, stressing that the principle should not be limited to the governorship position alone.

He emphasised that the Charter of Equity promotes justice, fairness, and equity, and called on political leaders in the state not to be greedy in the adoption of consensus candidates.

“Political leaders must be guided by good spirit. Be fair and just. Think of God first, the people next, and then the candidate,” Oparah advised.

He described the Imo Charter of Equity as a well thought out programme designed to address the imbalance in the distribution of political offices in the state, adding that Governor Uzodimma would be remembered for introducing the legacy initiative.

Oparah further predicted that in the near future, other states in Nigeria would begin to look towards Imo State to emulate the Charter of Equity as a model for promoting fairness and balanced political representation.

He concluded by reiterating the commitment of the Uzodimma administration to good governance and inclusive leadership, while expressing confidence that the leadership of the APC in Owerri zone would continue to play a significant role in advancing the vision and programmes of the government
