Hon. Chief Henry Ikenna Egwuatu, popularly known as Ozuomee, has been inaugurated as the Shared Prosperity Coordinator for Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State by the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Egwuatu was inaugurated alongside 26 other Local Government Area Shared Prosperity Coordinators and 305 Ward Shared Prosperity Officers during a ceremony held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the Sam Mbakwe Executive Council Chambers, Owerri.
The inauguration is part of the Imo State Government’s renewed grassroots engagement structure aimed at strengthening communication between the government and the people across the 27 Local Government Areas and 305 wards of the state.
Inaugurating the appointees, Governor Uzodimma charged them to regard themselves as representatives of the government in their respective communities and remain attentive to the needs, concerns and aspirations of the people.
The Governor urged the newly appointed coordinators and officers to take ownership of the challenges confronting their communities, emphasising that effective grassroots leadership requires a proper understanding of the circumstances of the people they are expected to serve.
He said, “The problems of your people are your problems. The problems of government are also your problems.”
Governor Uzodimma further called on the appointees to work together as one family, stressing the importance of unity, commitment and collective responsibility within the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He also directed them to effectively communicate the policies, programmes and achievements of his administration to the grassroots, while supporting the party’s structure and communicating its message ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Governor assured the new appointees that the necessary materials and support would be provided to enable them to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
Speaking before the inauguration, the Chief Political Adviser to the Governor and Head of the Political Bureau, Chief Perry Opara, confirmed that all the newly appointed 27 Shared Prosperity Coordinators and 305 Ward Shared Prosperity Officers were present at the ceremony.
Opara described the appointments as an important step towards strengthening the administration’s grassroots structure, noting that the new coordinators would serve as a link between the government and the people.
He said the structure would enable the government to communicate its programmes and achievements more effectively while also creating channels through which the concerns and feedback of communities could reach the appropriate authorities.
Opara also described Governor Uzodimma as a leader who has achieved significant milestones in Imo State and urged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by approaching their responsibilities with dedication, discipline and a strong sense of service.
Speaking shortly after his inauguration, Hon. Chief Henry Ikenna Egwuatu (Ozuomee) expressed his happiness and appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by Governor Uzodimma, describing the appointment as a great responsibility and a call to service.
Egwuatu said he was honoured to be entrusted with the responsibility of serving as the Shared Prosperity Coordinator for Orlu LGA, assuring the Governor that he would approach the assignment with dedication, humility and a strong sense of responsibility.
He expressed his commitment to working closely with other coordinators, government officials, party leaders, community leaders, traditional rulers, youths, women and other relevant stakeholders to ensure effective grassroots engagement and communication.
According to him, the task requires collective effort, consultation and dedication, stressing that he would work with stakeholders across Orlu LGA to promote unity, strengthen communication between the government and the people, and ensure that the concerns and aspirations of the people are properly communicated.
Egwuatu assured Governor Uzodimma of his commitment to the administration’s Shared Prosperity Agenda, promising to contribute his quota towards ensuring that government policies, programmes and achievements are effectively communicated and brought closer to the people.
He also called on all stakeholders in Orlu LGA to join hands with him in advancing the collective interests of the people, noting that the success of the new grassroots structure would depend largely on cooperation, unity and a shared commitment to service.
His inauguration therefore marks a new responsibility for the Orlu-born political and community stakeholder, as he joins the newly established structure designed to deepen grassroots engagement and strengthen the connection between the Imo State Government and communities across the state.
