...Opara says appointments will bring government closer to Imo people
Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has strengthened his administration’s grassroots engagement with the inauguration of 332 Shared Prosperity Coordinators and Officers across the 27 Local Government Areas and 305 wards of the state.
The new appointees, comprising 27 Local Government Area Shared Prosperity Coordinators and 305 Ward Shared Prosperity Officers, were inaugurated on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the Sam Mbakwe Executive Council Chambers, Owerri.
The inauguration is expected to deepen the relationship between the government and communities across the state by creating a stronger structure for communicating government policies, programmes and achievements directly to the people.
Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Uzodimma charged the new coordinators to see themselves as representatives of the government in their various communities and to remain sensitive to the needs and challenges confronting the people.
He urged them to take ownership of the problems facing their communities, stressing that effective service to the people requires a proper understanding of their circumstances and aspirations.
“The problems of your people are your problems and The problems of government are also your problems,” the Governor said.
Uzodimma further called on the coordinators to operate as one family, stressing the need for unity, commitment and collective responsibility within the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He urged them to communicate the policies and programmes of his administration to the grassroots and ensure that the people are adequately informed about the achievements of the government.
The Governor also charged the coordinators to support the APC structure and communicate the party’s message ahead of the 2027 general election, including support for all the APC candidates, from the Presidency to Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly seats.
He assured the new appointees that the government would provide the necessary materials and support to enable them to perform their duties effectively.
Before the inauguration, the Chief Political Adviser to the Governor of Imo State and Head of Political Bureau, Chief Perry Opara, confirmed the presence of all the newly appointed 27 Local Government Area Shared Prosperity Coordinators and 305 Ward Shared Prosperity Officers.
Opara described the gathering as an important development in the administration’s grassroots engagement strategy, noting that the presence of all the appointees demonstrated their readiness to assume the responsibilities entrusted to them.
He described Governor Uzodimma as a leader who has achieved significant milestones in Imo State and contributed to national development, stressing that the new appointments would further strengthen the administration’s connection with the people.
According to Opara, the coordinators would serve as a bridge between the government and the grassroots, enabling the administration to better communicate its programmes while also receiving feedback from communities.
He said the structure would further take government closer to the people, particularly by ensuring that government policies, programmes and achievements are effectively communicated at the ward and local government levels.
Opara therefore urged the appointees to approach their responsibilities with dedication, discipline and a strong sense of service, reminding them that their positions come with the responsibility of representing the interests of the people.
Responding on behalf of the newly appointed coordinators, Hon. Nnadozie Chukwuemeka from Mbaitoli expressed appreciation to Governor Uzodimma for the confidence reposed in them.
He described the appointment as a call to service and assured the Governor that the coordinators would work diligently to support the administration and ensure that its programmes and achievements are brought closer to the people.
