Gunmen on Tuesday set ablaze the country home of Emeka Okoronkwo, the commissioner for youth and sports in Imo State, on fire.
Imonews gathered that the ugly incident happened at he early hours in Amagu Ihube community in the Okigwe Local Government Area of the state.
Our correspondent learned that an elderly woman who was at Emeka Ngwu, a retired director of the Department of Security Service, who also had his country home burned down was killed when she was caught in the fire.
Others who lost their houses includes Nnamdi Obiaraeri, a former dean of the law school at Imo State University in Owerri who served as commissioner for information, youth and sports, and land and urban planning during the administrations of former governors Ikedi Ohakim and Rochas Okorocha, also lost his country home to fire
Two more important sons of the neighborhood, who our correspondent had not yet confirmed, had two houses belonging to them, also burned.
The incident happened at Amagu Ihube community in the Okigwe Local Government Area of the state.
The state commissioner for youths and sports, Emeka Okoronkwo, confirmed the burning of his house when our correspondent contacted him.
The spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, also confirmed the attack and told our correspondent that investigation had began with the view of arresting the fleeing suspects.
With the burning of the homes of the Director General of the Labour Party's candidate for the House of Representatives, Okey Unam, and Labour candidate for the Okigwe LGA, Nnaemeka Obiaraeri, Ihube has recently been a hub for criminal activity.
